(2 Aug) NEW DELHI: The Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) report on the Commonwealth Games scam, which is likely to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, blames the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) for the appointment of Suresh Kalmadi as the Common Wealth Games Chief. Sources also said that the CAG report questions the role of New Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit's office for not being prompt in dealing with the high expenditures incurred by the government. Questions were raised against the PMO for overlooking concerns raised by Mani Shankar Aiyar and Sunil Dutt against Kalmadi. CAG sources also report that intentional delays caused by Kalmadi led to high expenses. The report also indicts the Delhi government agencies for excessive spending in beautification of the city. Raja carried out the policy after informing the highest government authorities, it was alleged. Memon reiterated the point of Raja informing Prime Minister Singh about his 2G activities which have been consistently repeated by three public servants accused, Raja, Telecom Secretay Siddharth Behura and Raja's personal secretary R K Chandolia while arguing against framing of charges against them.

This was in 2007. "There was a personal discussion between the then External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee and the Solicitor General G E Vahanvati on the allocation policy.
